Hot Mess Confections – Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing Hot Mess Confections! We appreciate your support of our home-based cottage bakery. Please review the following policies before placing your order.

Ordering

  • Orders are accepted based on availability and are not confirmed until the required deposit has been received.

  • We recommend placing orders at least 1–2 weeks in advance, especially for larger events. Availability during holidays and peak seasons is limited.

Payment & Deposits

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your order and event date.

  • Orders are not considered booked until the deposit has been received.

  • The remaining balance is due or at pickup for standard orders unless otherwise agreed.

  • Orders not paid in full by the due date may be canceled without a refund of the deposit.

Cancellations

  • Deposits are non-refundable because ingredients, supplies, and production time are reserved specifically for your order.

  • Orders canceled more than 7 days before the scheduled pickup may receive a credit toward a future order (at Hot Mess Confections' discretion).

  • Orders canceled within 7 days of pickup are not eligible for refunds or credits.

Changes to Orders

  • Minor changes may be accommodated if requested at least 7 days before pickup, depending on availability.

  • Changes requested within 7 days of pickup cannot be guaranteed and may result in additional charges.

Pickup

  • Customers are responsible for picking up their order during the agreed pickup window.

  • Please inspect your order at pickup. Once the order has been accepted and leaves our possession, Hot Mess Confections is not responsible for damage caused during transport or storage.

  • Customers are encouraged to transport treats on a flat, level surface in an air-conditioned vehicle when possible.

Refund Policy

At Hot Mess Confections, each order is made fresh and often customized specifically for you. Because of the time, ingredients, and preparation involved, we have the following refund policy:

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your order and is not refundable under any circumstances if you choose to cancel.

  • If you cancel your order more than 7 days before your scheduled pickup, any payments made beyond the deposit may be refunded.

  • Cancellations made within 7 days of pickup are not eligible for any refund, as your order has already entered production or ingredients have been purchased.

  • Refunds will not be issued for orders that are not picked up during the agreed pickup window.

  • Due to the perishable nature of our products, we do not offer refunds or exchanges once an order has been picked up or delivered.

  • If there is an issue with your order due to an error on our part, please contact us within 24 hours of pickup or delivery with photos of the product. We will review the situation and, at our discretion, offer an appropriate resolution, which may include a replacement, store credit, or partial refund.

  • Dissatisfaction based solely on personal taste, color variations, or minor design differences from inspiration photos does not qualify for a refund. Every treat is handmade, and slight variations are normal.

Storage

  • Many desserts are perishable and should be refrigerated if not served within the recommended time.

  • Detailed storage instructions will be provided when applicable.

  • Hot Mess Confections is not responsible for changes in quality due to improper storage or handling after pickup.

Allergens

Our products are made in a home kitchen that handles common allergens, including but not limited to:

  • Wheat

  • Eggs

  • Milk

  • Soy

  • Peanuts

  • Tree nuts

While every effort is made to avoid cross-contact, we cannot guarantee any item is allergen-free.

Custom Orders

  • Colors and decorations are handcrafted and may vary slightly from inspiration photos.

  • We strive to create designs that closely match your requested theme while maintaining our own artistic style.

  • Exact replicas of another baker's work cannot be guaranteed.

Cottage Food Notice

Hot Mess Confections is a home-based cottage food bakery operating in accordance with applicable cottage food laws. Products are prepared in a home kitchen that is not inspected by the local health department, except as required by law.

Photography

We reserve the right to photograph our products and use those images for advertising, social media, and promotional purposes unless otherwise requested by the customer before pickup.

Right to Refuse Service

Hot Mess Confections reserves the right to refuse or cancel any order due to inappropriate behavior, harassment, non-payment, or circumstances beyond our control.

Acceptance

By placing an order and submitting your deposit, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
